Since the beginning of June my routine has changed on a Saturday and I get to venture out with my daughter to our local Farmer’s Market in Pottsville. This is where I get to pick up my CSA share for the week and also check out other goodies. Farmer’s Markets are such wonderful treasures. You would be amazed at what you can find at your local market and you have the opportunity to support local farmers.
The following pictures were from my excursion to the market on June 9th. The market was definitely bustling with activity.
I found out that day they offer a fruit CSA.

Ran into two wonderful women from the town I live in. Betty and her mom enjoying a morning at the market.
You find many other great items at a farmer’s market besides yummy produce. Some Saturdays in Pottsville you are greeted by stands with with baked goods, hanging flower pots, plants, etc.
What’s really fun and what I really love about a farmer’s market is you learn to eat what’s in season. The selection varies from week to week. I always feel like a kid at Christmas finding the treasures at each stand. Then I come home to let my creativity fill our plates.
The Pottsville, PA Farmer’s Market is on Saturdays operating June through October from 8 am to noon. It’s located in the Arch Street parking lot, which is also adjacent to Center Street. To find your local market visit http://www.localharvest.org, contact your local Ag Extension office, Visitor’s Bureau, or check your local newspapers, free publications and community newsletters.
Happy market shopping!
